Decisions to these effect were taken by the Yeddyurappa cabinet on Thursday. Briefing reporters here, rural development and panchayat raj minister Shobha Karandlaje announced: "We have resolved to reduce sales tax on petrol by 3 per cent and diesel by 2 per cent. With regard to LPG, we have decided to reduce the value added tax (VAT) by 3 per cent. These moves will provide relief to the common man who was administered a rude shock following the fuel price hike effected by the Centre this fortnight."
