The Madhya Pradesh chapter of PHDCCI has suggested the state government review the Shop Establishment Act in view of the Delhi government's decision to allow shops to remain open till 11 pm on all days of the week. |
"In view of the Delhi government's decision, the state government should review the Act to give a boost to trade and commerce in the State," said Rajendra Kothari, resident director, PHDCCI. |
On behalf of PHDCCI, he has welcomed the Delhi government's decision to permit shops to remain open for all seven days. |
"The announcement meets the long-standing demand of the Chamber to allow commercial establishments in the city to remain open throughout the week and till late in the night, in conformity with the government's guidelines and labour laws," he said. |
The decision will ease the pressure that the city's commercial establishments face due to competition from the shopping malls in the National Capital Territory region, which do not face such restrictions. |
