The Planning Commission today expressed concern on over exploitation of ground water in Delhi, calling for detailed discussion on a long-term water management programme for the state in consultation with environment and forests experts.

The commission which met Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit to finalise the annual plan for the state hoped to apprise the prime minister about the state of water in Delhi.

It approved Delhi’s annual plan of Rs 15,133 crore for 2011-12. Dikshit said efforts were on to improve resource base for financing plan. She said nearly 62 per cent of the plan would be financed from the state’s own resources while 11 per cent would come from small saving loans.
