Players Soften Stand On Basic Rentals

Basic operators have softened up on their demand for hiking monthly rentals for fixed line phones owing to political opposition against the move.

Instead the operators have asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to discontinue with the concept of free calls to compensate the operators for offering subsidised services.

Currently consumers get upto 75 free calls a month along with a rental of Rs 250 a month.
