PM asks Bengal Congress to submit law & order report to Home Minister

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is concerned over the post-poll violence in West Bengal and has asked the WBPCC to submit a report on law and order to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, CLP leader Manas Bhuinya said here today.     

Bhuinya, who met Singh in Delhi yesterday along with WBPCC working president Pradip Bhattacharya told the state Assembly that the prime minister was apprised of the post-poll clashes, including attacks on Congress workers and supporters at Mangolkot in Burdwan district.     

"The prime minister has expressed concern about the situation. He has asked us to submit a detailed report on the situation to the Union Home Minister. Accordingly Bhattacharya and senior party leader Abdul Mannan will meet Chidambaram today," he said.     

 

The Congress delegation also requested the prime minister to send a minister of state of the Union Home department to Mangolkot to study the situation there, Bhuinya said.
