Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today voiced confidence that India would quickly return to the path of sustained high level growth of 9-10 per cent.
He expressed the view as he interacted with a group of eminent members of Indian diaspora under the auspices of the Prime Minister's Global Advisory Council of Overseas Indians here.
In the first such meeting, Singh noted that never before had the government of India brought together on one platform such an eminent group with the "wealth of knowledge, experience and achievements" as members of the Council.
The members of the group appreciated the initiatives of the Prime Minister for setting up the Council and providing a platform for overseas Indian community to share their experience and knowledge for socio-economic development of the country, a statement issued by the PMO said.
They were of the "unanimous view" that India and its overseas community can and should build a strong, strategic and mutually-beneficial partnership, the statement said.
Singh welcomed the ideas and suggestions made by the members and said government would give careful considerations to them.
