PM pores over Mumbai makeover plans

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today met Maharashtra governor SM Krishna and followed it up with an in-depth presentation about Mumbai city's ambitious Rs 38,000 crore makeover plan during his meeting with chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

The meetings assume significance in the wake of the addition of a sewage disposal and water supply project to meet the city's increasing needs.

CM Vilasrao Deshmukh also held another crucial meeting with Union civil aviation minister Praful Patel where he assured of all assistance to facilitate a joint venture effort for modernising the Mumbai domestic airport.

Singh, in his meeting with Deshmukh, emphasised the need for a human face while Mumbai city is sought to be transformed into a world class megapolis.
