An Indian Air Force Boeing 737 carrying Prime Minister Narendra Modi was amongst the 27 planes diverted from Delhi airport on Sunday night . He was returning to Delhi after addressing a public meeting at Davangere but his aircraft could not land due to bad weather.

It diverted to Jaipur after holding over airport.

Sources said there were thunderstorm clouds on the approach Delhi and strong tail and cross winds resulting in flight operations getting disrupted. Several domestic and international flights were diverted to Jaipur.

Departures and arrivals were put on hold for a short period but this had a cascading impact and led air traffic congestion.
