All the political parties in Andhra Pradesh have unanimously resolved to request Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to find a permanent solution for the river water sharing disputes between Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra and Karnataka.

AP is a lower riparian state while the other two are higher.

The political parties, which met on Friday under the chairmanship of chief minister K Rosaiah, wanted the Prime Minister to intervene quickly in these issues to find a permanent solution.

They said AP was being deprived of its rightful share of river waters as Karnataka and Maharashtra had been constructing irrigation projects without requisite clearances from the Central Water Commission, the Government of India and in violation of Supreme Court orders on rivers Krishna and Godavari respectively.

The Telugu Desam did not attend the meeting as only one of its representatives was allowed. However, it submitted suggestions to be incorporated in the memorandum to be submitted to the Prime Minister when the all-party delegation would meet him in New Delhi on July 26.

Major irrigation minister P Lakshmaiah said the delegation would primarily request the Prime Minister to stall the Babli project.
