PM's Surat visit postponed to today evening

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was to visit flood affected areas of Surat this morning, has postponed his visit till evening due to inclement weather, officials sources said.

Singh was to begin his visit of the three flood-affected states of Gujarat, Andhara Pradesh and Maharashtra from Surat.

Now, he would first tour Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, and was expected to reach Surat around 1700 hours, they said.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma, who were to accompany the Prime Minister to Surat, have also returned to Gandhinagar and plan to reach Vadodara in the evening, the sources added.
