PM to lay foundation stone for construction of Delhi-Dasna-Meerut expressway

The total cost of project will be to the tune of Rs 7,566 cr

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the construction of 74 Km long Delhi-Dasna-Meerut 14 lane expressway and upgradation of 22 Km long Dasna-Hapur section of NH-24 on Thursday i.e December 31,  2015.

Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari informed that the total cost of project will be to the tune of Rs 7,566 crore.  The Delhi-Meerut Expressway Phase-I comprises of construction of 28 km long 14 lane Delhi-Dasna section of Delhi-Meerut Expressway, costing Rs 2,869 crore. While the phase – II will include construction of 46 km long, 6 lane Dasna-Meerut section, costing Rs 3,575 Crore.The 6-laning of 22 km long Dasna-Hapur section of NH -24 costing Rs 1,122 Crore.
 

Land has already been acquired for both the projects. There is an urgent need for an expressway between Delhi and Meerut because NH-58, the only existing link between the two places, is heavily congested with traffic. The alignment of Delhi-Meerut Express will start from Nizammudin Bridge from Delhi and will continue on existing NH–24 upto Dasna From Dasna there will be completely a new alignment upto Meerut.

The alignment will terminate on inner ring road/ Meerut bypass near Railway crossing  at Meerut.
