Police ask industry to submit employees' data

In a notification, the commissioner, said, "Several incidents of criminals from other states settling in Surat as workers, have come to light. Since little information is available about them, these criminals escape the clutches of police."

"To avoid such a situation, the owners of all business houses, who employ more than 10 people, are directed to submit the complete details of their workers, with the police."

The notification asked the industry owners to submit details of the workers' current residential address, their permanent address and a recent photograph, in a CD with the concerned police station within the next 15 days.

The notification also warned legal proceedings against those industry owners who do not comply with the order.
