Tension gripped Gobindpur village in the site of the Posco project in Jagatsinghpur district as the police forces entered the village for the first time and tightened the security to ensure continuation of the socio-economic survey for the project.
With the massive deployment of police forces, the district administration is geared up to start the survey at Gobindpur on Friday. It may be noted that the village is considered to be the stronghold of the Posco Pratirodh Snagram Samiti (PPSS), the organization spearheading the anti-Posco agitation.Meawhile, chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik has invited six political party leaders including left parties to discuss on Posco related issues on 11 June.
Armed police personnel entered Gobindpur and started search operations to nab the anti-Posco leaders including Abhya Sahoo. Police conducted patrolling at Nuagaon and Gobindpur and kept a strict vigil on the movement of PPSS activists to ensure law and order during survey.
