Pune (Rural) SP Vishwas Nangre Patil has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Mumbai while Mumbai's DCP (Zone I) Brijesh Singh has been transfered to the State Reserve Police Force.

Interestingly, all the new postings in Mumbai as DCPs are of Marathi-speaking officers like R M Vhatkar, Dilip Sawant, C K Pawar, Milind Bharambe, A B Borade, Amar Jadhav, A V Patil, M T Kohe and N Tamboli.

The country's financial capital recently witnessed agitations by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) against north Indians. Officials from the State Police Service have also been given an upperhand with as many as six officers being appointed in Mumbai.

Those who have been transfered out of Mumbai include DCP (Zone IX) V K Choubey whose name was dragged into builder Chaturvedi framing case, R N Tadvi, D M Phadtare, Shivaji Bodke and Datta Karale. Over 30 senior officers with ranks of Additional Director General of Police, Inspector General of Police and Deputy IGs were transfered yesterday.
