With hardly seven weeks left for the Mysore Dasara festivities to begin, the recent political developments in the state have cast a shadow on the planning and preparations for the famous Dasara celebrations set to begin in October. |
Now that the political uncertainty has ended, attention is being given to the festivities. "The preparations should have started," said new district incharge minister Tanvir here on Wednesday and announced that the Chief Minister will preside over the Dasara high power committee meeting on August 19, with which preparations would commence in right earnestness. |
At a meeting held by the Mysore deputy commissioner last week, Yuva Dasara, a youth festival being held for a few years now as part of the government-sponsored festivities, came in for strong opposition. |
Since it is a programme for the youth, it needs to be continued with improvements, the minister said adding that all programmes conducted last time will be organised this year also, with private sponsors, wherever possible. |
"A decision on allocating funds for the festivities will also be taken at the high power meeting," he told the Business Standard. |
