The election notification for the 10 Lok Sabha and 70 assembly seats in Orissa has been issued. The voting in these parliamentary and the assembly segments will be held in the first phase on April 16.
The 10 Lok Sabha seats, for which the notification was issued under the clause 14 (2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, are Baragarh, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Kandhamal, Aska, Berhampur and Koraput.
Similarly, the governor issued notification for the election in 70 assembly seats in the state. Out of the total 70 seats, 36 are meant for the general category, 23 are for the scheduled tribe (ST) and 11 are for the scheduled caste (SC).
Along with this, the process of filing of the nominations has started from today. The last date for submission of the nomination papers for these parliamentary and assembly seats will be 30th March. The nomination papers will be scrutinised on 31th March and the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is 2nd April.
