With the face-off between the Left and the government on the Indo-US nuclear deal showing no signs of letting up, Opposition BJP today said the government would not complete its full term and predicted snap polls.

"Though 10 days back everyone expected that elections would be held in 2009, what can be said for certain now is that the government cannot continue till 2009," Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani said.

Though it was a matter of speculation when the Congress-led coalition government would fall, the former deputy prime minister said it was "certain" that it will not survive beyond 2008.

"When exactly its collapse comes and when another election is forced on the country is a matter of speculation. But it will certainly come before that. May be in 2007 itself or may be in 2008. Not beyond that," he told reporters.
