Port traffic misses target

 Traffic at the major ports grew 7.34 per cent in April-November 2003 to 218.1 million tonnes from 203.18 million tonnes registered in the corresponding period last year. The growth was marginally lower than the 8 per cent posted during April-November 2002.

 Disturbingly, however, traffic this year fell 0.27 per cent short of the target of 218.7 million tonnes. Last year, ports
