The long-pending Tariff Policy for the power sector, which would prescribe the broad guidelines for tariff setting by regulatory commissions, would be announced within six months time, Union Power Minister Anant Geete said here today.
Geete said the new policy is being prepared after taking into confidence all stakeholders including consumers, generation companies and distribution companies.
He said with the passage of the Electricity Bill, generation of electricity had been delicensed and captive generation would be permitted freely.
Only hydro electricity projects will need clearance from the Central Electricity Authority.
