According to the Energy department, no power cut was made anywhere in the state during the last 24-hours, an official release said adding power is being supplied for 21 hours instead of 19 hours in the district, for 19 hours instead of 15 hours in Tehsils and 18 hours instead of 12 hours in villages.

Due to improvement in the situation, the demand and supply gap has also started decreasing. On May 23, supply of 3,765 megawatt power was made against the demand of 4,320 megawatt between 8 am and 8 pm on the first phase with the difference amounting to 555 megawatt.

Similarly, in the second phase between 6-11 pm, 4690 megawatt power was supplied against the demand of 5,260 megawatt with a gap of 570 megawatts.

In the third phase from 11 pm to 6 am, 4400 megawatt power was supplied against the demand of 4,690 megawatt. In this phase the gap was only 155 megawatts.

Madhya Pradesh was forced to draw more power than  its quota from the grid, but in the wake of improvement in the situation the state is drawing power of its share only.

Due to state governments efforts, the supply of coal to thermal power stations in the state from the Union government has also improved. The coal supply situation at Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station at Birsinghpur is improving since May 22.
