The Maharashtra government has restricted the supply of electricity to eight industrial districts in the Western parts of the state between midnight and eight am up to June 5.

Apart from restricted power supply to the regions, that include Pune, Satara, Sangli, Nanded, Parbhani, Hingoli, Sholapur and Kolhapur, the government has also directed all residential units to refrain from making use of air-conditioners.

Similarly, street lights would be non-functional between 6 pm and 10 pm in the period, till the faulty transmission towers are operational.

Revealing this after the state cabinet meeting, minister for energy Padmasinh Patil said the move was needed since the re-erection of the seven double circuit towers and three single circuit towers that collapsed on May 17 is yet to be effected.
