Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy sought to allay rumours on the transfer of power from the Janata Dal (S) to BJP in the state to rest by saying it would be a smooth affair.

Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone for the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha at the vaccine depot premises in Belgaum on Sunday, he said he would stick to his words and blamed the media for trying to read between the lines and create confusion in the minds of the people.

"I don't want to continue as chief minister after my tenure ends on October 3. There's no need for guessing anything unusual to happen. I have succeeded in giving power to the voiceless and they have now become strong enough to question the CM," Kumaraswamy said.

The CM asserted that his 18 months' tenure as CM had helped the people. Belgaum had not developed due to the long pending border dispute and neglect by the successive governments both state and central, he said.
