Gas-based power generating stations are facing a gas shortage of 21.02 million metric standard cubic metres a day (mmscmd) at a plant load factor (PLF) of 90 per cent.

This is marginally higher than last year's shortfall of around 20.99 mmscmd.

"The shortages are lower when the plants are run at a lower PLF of 80 per cent (15.07 mmscmd) or 70 per cent (9.13 mmscmd)," sources said.
