On his first day of joining office, new Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu promised to bring about all-round development of the national transporter with a special focus on safety and customer satisfaction.
"We have faced many challenges in running the Railways in the past. We do have potential, which has not been properly utilised," he said after assuming the charge.
Prabhu took oath as a Cabinet minister on Sunday replacing Sadananda Gowda who was shifted to the Law ministry in the Cabinet reshuffle.

Prabhu said the Prime Minister wants the Railways' condition to change. "Our focus areas will be customer service and railway safety as passenger safety is increasingly becoming an area of concern," he said
He added the measures that will be taken for reforms would start bearing fruits soon. "What we will do will be seen in due course of time," he said
Prabhu said addressing the concerns of Railways' workforce, the largest in the country, will also be on his agenda.
