Pragati plans December fair

Pragati, the ladies wing of Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI), will host a trade fair in December this year, in a bid to empower women.

On the sidelines of the annual general meeting, M Roychowdhury, president of Pragati, said, "We will be hosting a trade fair in the city in December this year, in association with BNCCI, to uphold the position of women by way of providing them with a platform to earn a livelihood."

The fair will be spread on about 160 square feet area, which will exhibit handicrafts products made by women, sarees and similar such materials.

 

More than 20 stalls will be arranged wherein a sum of Rs 7000 will be charged per person displaying their products.

This apart, the wing which primarily deals with uplifting the status of women in need, is also looking at providing help to various rehabilitation centres with either monetary help or by providing computers, sewing machines, according to the needs of the various centres.
