Prez, others get pay hike

In a New Year bonanza, the salaries of the president and some other holders of Constitutional offices were today doubled. According to a Cabinet decision today, the president will now get Rs 1 lakh each month while the vice-president's salary will be Rs 85,000.

For the governors of 28 states, the salary will be Rs 75,000. It was not immediately clear whether the lieutenant governors of the seven uTs will also benefit from the pay rise.
