The Commissioner for Railway Safety will conduct a probe into the IED blast in the Guwahati-Puri Express near Rangiya in Assam in which at least 100 passengers were injured.

"The probe will ascertain as to which extremist group was involved in the incident. The report is expected within a week," North East Frontier Railway CPRO S Hajong told PTI. Last night's blast completely damaged 200 m of track and fuse wire and detonators were also found. Seven bogies of the train carrying 700 passengers derailed with two coaches falling into a pond. More than 300 workers are at the site under the supervision of senior officials and tracks are expected to be restored for traffic by tonight, he said. Rs one lakh has been sanctioned for the three grievously injured passengers while Rs 10,000 will be paid to the injured, he added.
