Prodi to replace Berlusconi

 The government announced that the India-EU summit meeting will go on as scheduled with European Commission President, Romano Prodi, standing in for Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who is indisposed.

 Prodi and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will meet tomorrow and address a special plenary session.

 The only element of the summit that had been cancelled was a bilateral meeting between the Prime Ministers of India and Italy, clarified the spokesman for the foreign office, Navtej Sarna.

 He said that along with Prodi, the EU high representative for common and foreign security policy, Javier Solana will also participate in the political meeting.
