Diamond workers today took out peacful rallies in Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Amreli. The Diamond Association of Amreli agreed to the demands of diamond workers.
The diamond cutting and polishing units in Amreli also urged the workers to resume work. Diamond workers in Rajkot and Bhavnagar handed over memorandum to district collector.
Police kept vigil on diamond workers after the agitation had turned violent yesterday in Bhavnagar claiming one life.
"Diamond unit owners and exporters as well as importers have planned a meeting to discuss the wage hike issue. We will take a decision regarding increase in wages, so that closed units can resume operations," said Vitthal Mendhapara, president Bhavnagar Diamond Association.

"We have accepted the demand of agitating diamond workers. Amreli Diamond Association has urged all the diamond unit owners in Bhavnagar to implement 15 per cent rise in the daily wages. The owners have agreed to increase the wages and units will start operations from tomorrow," said Lalit Thummar, president, Amreli Diamond Association.
Under the leadership of Shiv Sena, diamond workers in Rajkot took out large rally from Trikonbag area of the city to district collector's office.
A memorandum demanding 30 per cent hike was handed over to the collector. Diamond cutting and polishing units in Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Junaghad remained closed for third consecutive days due strike by diamond workers.
