The Arunachal Pradesh government today signed MoUs here with three central PSUs for development of several mega hydro-electric projects in the state with a total capacity of 15,000MW. Describing the step as 'a historic event', Union Power Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde said it would make the state a hydro powerhouse of the country. These projects would generate annual revenue of at least Rs 1200 crore for Arunachal, which is more than its annual budget of Rs 1000 crore, he said, in the presence of Chief Minister Gegong Apang. Shinde promised quick clearance and execution of the projects taken under the 50,000MW hydro electric initiative in May 2003. |
