Punjab CM donates Rs 5 lakh to Kisan Club

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has given a special grant of Rs 5 lakh to the Punjab Kisan Club, a body of progressive Punjab farmers operating under the technical guidance of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
 
Speaking to Business Standard, club President Pavittar Pal Singh Pangli said in a written message sent by the chief minister, he mentioned organiaations like the Punjab Kisan Club could play a major role in bringing Punjab agriculture out of the present crisis.
 
"The market regime under the WTO has posed many challenges to Punjab farmers, who need to be educated. And the Punjab Kisan Club can take a lead in steering the farmers in the right direction. This will encourage the club members to work with more zeal for the betterment of farmers,'' he said.
 
PAU Associate Professor Varinder Kumar Bhambota, who is also in charge of the Punjab Kisan Club, said last year too, the chief minister gave the club a grant of Rs 5 lakh.
 
Club President Pavittar Pal Singh Pangli and Secretary Hardev Singh Ghanaur thanked the Chief Minister and said Kisan Club endeavor to spread the new agricultural innovations and diversification plans to every village in the state.
 
Pangli has appealed to the Chief Minister to establish public libraries in each village so that farm literature can be made available to every home in a village.
 
PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Kirpal Singh Aulakh and Director of Extension Education, Dr Sarjit Singh Gill has also thanked the Chief Minister for this grant.
