Congress was leading in eight of the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab while the ruling SAD-BJP alliance was ahead in the remaining five seats.
Congress was leading in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Anandpur Sahab, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahab, Sangrur and Patiala.
SAD was ahead in Khadoor Sahab, Faridkot, Ferozepur and Bathinda, while its alliance partner BJP was ahead in Hoshiarpur.
Congress candidate Partap Singh Bajwa was leading over his nearest rival actor-turned-politician Vinod Khanna of BJP by 1712 votes from Gurdaspur, while another BJP candidate Navjot Singh Sidhu was trailing behind Congress candidate O P Soni from Amritsar.
Rattan Singh Ajnala of SAD had established a lead of 7,780 votes over Congress candidate Rana Gurjeet Singh Sodhi from Khadoor Sahab, while state Congress President Mohinder Singh Kaypee was leading by 5,317 votes over his nearest SAD rival Hans Raj Hans from Jalandhar.
BJP's Som Parkash was leading over Congress candidate Santosh Chaudhary from Hoshiarpur. While, Congress nominee Ravneet Singh Bittu was ahead of SAD's Daljit Singh Cheema from Anandpur Sahab.Former Indian Youth Congress President Manish Tewari was leading by 13,365 votes over Gurcharan Singh Ghalib of SAD from Ludhiana and Sukhdev Singh Libra of Congress was also ahead of Lok Sabha deputy speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal from Fatehgarh Sahab.
Paramjit Kaur Gulshan (SAD) was leading by 54,057 votes over her nearest rival Sukhwinder Singh Danny of Congress from Faridkot. While, SAD's Sher Singh Ghubaya was leading over Congress candidate Jagmeet Singh Brar from Ferozepur.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal, wife of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, was leading by 13,610 votes over Raninder Singh of Congress, son of former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, from Bathinda.
Congress candidate Vijay Inder Singla was leading by 15,428 votes over nearest rival Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa of SAD from Sangrur, while Preneet Kaur of Congress was leading by 52,585 votes over Prem Singh Chandumajra of SAD from Patiala.
