The big commercial projects, construction on which is already in progress, may be in trouble as the Punjab government would review the sanction of 18 such projects in which digging for parking was permitted up to the level of minus three flours.

Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia, while talking to reporters, said digging to such a depth would not be allowed and all these projects would be put under the scanner. The construction would not be allowed until appropriate changes are made in the project plan.

"These projects will not be allowed to create any threat to human life, which was imminent with such deep digging as safety of surrounding buildings was being jeopardised",he said, adding one of such project of DLF has already been asked to stop construction.

He also announced that the issue of rights for advertising on public places throughout the city given to a private company by the previous regime on build-operate-transfer basis would also be probed and a report would be furnished within two weeks.
