Sixty-three lakh tonnes of paddy have arrived in grain markets of Haryana and Punjab in the first 20 days of the procurement process, food and supplies officials of the states said on Monday.
According to an official, government agencies and private millers procured over 40 lakh tonnes paddy in Punjab.
Ferozepur, Patiala and Tarn Taran districts have procured maximum paddy so far in the state, the official added.
In Haryana, over 23.5 lakh tonnes of paddy have arrived in grain markets and Kurukshetra, Karnal and Kaithal districts were leading in procurement, an official said.
Procurement of paddy in both states started October 1.
