The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation will soon sign an agreement with the Punjab government to run a Palace-On-Wheels between New Delhi and Amritsar.

The luxury train will have 20 coaches. All facilities like a spa, a bar, a beauty parlour, a business centre and suites with attached baths would be present on the train, said PK Goel, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's managing director.

It will take a year for the Palace-On-Wheels to be launched, said Goel. The train will start from Safdarjung station in New Delhi and might halt at Patila and Chandigarh for site-seeing, enroute Amritsar.

All the historical places in Amritsar and on the Wagha border will be included in the list of sites to be visited.

The rail tourism corporation is contemplating extending the route from Delhi to Jaipur and Agra in the long-term.
