The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation will soon sign an agreement with the Punjab government to run a Palace-On-Wheels between New Delhi and Amritsar. |
The luxury train will have 20 coaches. All facilities like a spa, a bar, a beauty parlour, a business centre and suites with attached baths would be present on the train, said PK Goel, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's managing director. |
It will take a year for the Palace-On-Wheels to be launched, said Goel. The train will start from Safdarjung station in New Delhi and might halt at Patila and Chandigarh for site-seeing, enroute Amritsar. |
All the historical places in Amritsar and on the Wagha border will be included in the list of sites to be visited. |
The rail tourism corporation is contemplating extending the route from Delhi to Jaipur and Agra in the long-term. |
