The Punjab government has launched a school health programme in the state schools in order to reduce the morbidity rate among school children by preventing them from diseases.
Disclosing this here today, Upinderjit Kaur, Education Minister Punjab, said that this programme was an important component of education which should help in keeping a close watch on the health of school going children.
Under the programme, the school health teams were to carry out the medical check-up of primary and middle school students for various ailments along with their treatment through referral services.
In addition, health education to the school children and teachers is also being imparted by specialised teams, she said.
