Punjab polls largely peaceful, turnout 60%

Amid intermittent showers and minor skirmishes between rival political groups, an estimated 60% voters today exercised their franchise for the keenly-fought Punjab assembly polls.

The fate of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, his bete noire Parkash Singh Badal and a number of regional chieftains were sealed in Electonic Voting Machines (EVM) as the balloting ended this evening.
