Punjab to convert vacant engineering seats into mgmt quota

The Punjab government has decided to convert engineering and pharmacy seats remaining vacant after second round of counselling into management quota, while abolishing combined manual counselling for such vacant seats on basis of Class XII performance during the coming academic session. Interestingly, the government conducts three rounds of counselling for diploma courses in these disciplines. The students rued that the government should conduct three rounds of counselling, as was the case with diploma courses.

There are about 29,000 seats in more than 117 colleges affiliated to the Punjab Technical University (PTU) while more than 3,000 seats are collectively sanctioned in Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana and Punjabi University, Patiala.
