Punjab to issue Baran project termination

The Punjab government on Friday issued a project termination notice to Omaxe Ltd, which had been selected for an integrated township Project at Baran, in Patiala, through bidding in 2006. This was decided at the 44th meeting of Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority held in Chandigarh. A spokesperson of the CM’s office said according to the agreement Omaxe has failed to give employment to 1,000 persons in the IT and Bio-Tech sectors and develop 0.15 million square feet area of the Township as an IT & Biotech sector by the end of third year from the commencement date i.e. by August 9, 2010.
