Punjab would soon tie-up with an Israeli company called Afimilk – pioneer in the field of dairy farming to develop dairy farming sector in the state in a holistic manner by providing technical knowhow and managerial skills to dairy farmers in Punjab.
A decision to this effect was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at a high level meeting with a delegation of the Israeli company and members of Progressive Dairy Farmers' Association, Punjab. It was informed in the meeting that 'Afimilk' provides professional guidelines and technical support to dairy farming sector world over. It also produces the world's highest yielding cows with 12,000 liters milk per cow per year through intensive use of advanced technology and management.
Emphasising the need for comprehensive growth of the dairy farming, Badal asked the delegation to provide their technical support to the dairy farmers. He also said that for the effective implementation the government would constitute district level committees to assist the farmers and other interested ones about setting up of farms.
The Chief Minister also asked the Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development to chalk out the modalities for establishing clusters 'Dairy Service Centers' (DSCs) equipped with modern machinery to be utilised for the common cause of dairy farms. Badal also assured that all these machines would be provided to DSCs at subsidised rates.
