Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today urged the Centre to allow the movement at least 1.1 million tonne wheat every month through the state procuring agencies to avoid storage problem.
Badal in a letter to Union Agriculture, Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Minister Sharad Pawar said the state already had a stock overflow of 5 million tonne of wheat procured last year.
The chief minister impressed upon Pawar to personally intervene in the matter in view of the fresh arrival of wheat in the forthcoming procurement season.
