V K Shunglu, the former comptroller and auditor general appointed by the Prime Minister’s Office to head a high-level committee to probe the alleged scam in the Commonwealth Games, tells Akshat Kaushal that the committee is coordinating with all agencies concerned.

What has been the Prime Minister’s directive to you?
Whatever the Prime Minister told me is there in the terms of reference and I don’t have to say anything more on it.

But he must have said something informally.
No, it is there in the terms of reference.

Have you been assigned some officers or staff?
If you read the terms of reference, it says all agencies have been asked to cooperate with us. We are still in that process.

You have been appointed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), but the BJP has dragged the PMO itself in the scam. Would there be a conflict of interest? I mean, would you be questioning everyone including the PMO?
Yes, we are looking at everyone.

The common perception is that it’s an eyewash. What do you say to that?
You are a journalist and you are paid to estimate that. You are free to comment on anything you wish to.
