Quota covers creamy layer: Paswan

Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today set to rest doubts about the inclusion of the creamy layer in the Bill for 27 per cent quota for OBCs in higher educational institutions.

Paswan said the Bill approved by the Cabinet yesterday makes no reference to the creamy layer among OBCs. The quota is for the OBCs as a whole and makes no class distinction, he added.

Meanwhile, medical students in the Capital threatened to move the Supreme Court against the Bill, saying it was sub judice.

"We will consult legal experts regarding approaching the court against the Bill," Dr Binod of the Resident Doctors Association of AIIMS said.
