Quota stir spread to other states

Students of Lucknow, Kolkata and Bangalore take out demonstrations

Medical students in different states today expressed solidarity with the protests by their Delhi counterparts against 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions.
 
Interns and junior doctors of Chittaranjan National Medical College in Kolkata marched to the principal's office and submitted a memorandum to protest against the move.
 
The students carried out a signature campaign and will send a memorandum to President APJ.Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and HRD Minister Arjun Singh. Junior doctors and interns of a other medical colleges will meet soon for a bigger stir, the students said.
 
The students of Bangalore Medical College also held protests and criticised the police attack on Delhi medical students when they were trying to meet the HRD minister. The students from other government and private medical colleges in Karnataka are likely to join them tomorrow for a march to the Raj Bhavan.
 
The students of KG Medical college in Lucknow wore black badges while those at Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences took out a march in the college premises. The students of other four medical colleges kept away.
 
Resident doctors and interns resumed duties in Delhi hospitals but medical students boycotted classes. "The situation at the hospital is normal. All resident doctors and interns have come to work," Additional Medical Superintendent of LNJP hospital Dr MS Chopra said.
 
The doctors at Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital resumed duties last night, a senior hospital official said.
