Rahul Bajaj wins Sena, BJP, NCP support |

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the BJP-Shiv Sena combine have officially declared support for the independent candidature of industrialist Rahul Bajaj for the Rajya Sabha seat from Maharashtra vacated after the death of BJP leader Pramod Mahajan. Earlier in the day, Rahul Bajaj filed his nomination papers at Vidhan Bhawan, Mumbai. According to sources in the BJP, NCP leader Sharad Pawar called up BJP president Rajnath Singh last evening proposing that the BJP and the NCP support a common candidate, Rahul Bajaj.
