Railways Minister Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury today laid stress upon expanding and maintaining railway facilities in remote areas of the country.
He said tunnels and bridges should be constructed with the latest technology to provide railway connectivity in remote areas, according to an NWR spokesperson.
"Tunnels and bridges should be contracted and maintained properly to ensure that people in the remotest areas are connected with railway services," he said at the opening session of a two-day national seminar of Railways.

"We have good engineers who work for development, but they should integrate latest technologies also to get best results," he said.
Remembering Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary, he said the country should take inspiration from him.
Senior officers of Railways were present in the seminar, in which technical papers would be presented, the spokesperson said.
