Indian railways has posted a 19.4 per cent increase in revenue earnings during the initial ten days of the current month starting from 1 August - 10 August 2008, according to a statement released by the ministry of railways.
Total revenue earnings of railways in the ten days period was recorded at Rs 1988.67 crore as compared to Rs 1664.75 posted in the corresponding period last year.
Total goods earnings have increased 17 per cent at Rs 1332.04 crore from Rs 1131.93 crore posted during 1 August - 10 August 2007.
The total passenger revenue earnings during the period also increased 25.11 per cent at Rs 592.76 crore compared to Rs 473.79 crore during the same period last year.
The total number of passengers booked during the period were 19.03 crore as compared to 17.73 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 7.35 per cent.
