Railways, Petroleum Ministry On War Alert

The petroleum ministry and the railways have chalked out contingency plans in case of the outbreak of hostilities on the border.

While the railways have begun to withdraw wagons from different zones for supply of provisions and ferrying soldiers to border areas, the petroleum ministry has drawn up a blueprint to rush supplies to deficit areas if the situation so warrants.

Confirming the developments, senior railway officials said though the move would have an adverse impact on the railways
