Despite inflation, citizens in Raipur are set to burn crackers worth more than Rs 4 crore in this festival of lights.
The cracker market has been transacting a business of Rs 3.5 crore to Rs 4 crore every year. At the onset of Diwali festive season, the cracker merchants were in a fix that inflation would dampen the spirit of festival that would have direct impact on the sale of crackers. “But the response we have been receiving for the last couple of days, we are hopeful that the overall business will not be affected by inflation,” Mustafa Khan, a cracker merchant in Motibagh ground said. Even if they failed to exceed, the market will be little more than the business transacted last year (Rs 4 crore), he added.
