Telecom Minister A Raja today expressed happiness over the successful completion of auction for 3G spectrum and said the government would earn revenues beyond what it had expected.

"I am happy to see that the government is going to earn more money than expected," Raja told PTI.

The 3G auction, which got over on the 34th day today, assures the government of Rs 67,710 crore in revenue with the pan-India licence (sum of all circles) price touching Rs 16,750.58 crore.

The government, in its budget 2010-11, had estimated Rs 35,000 crore from sale of spectrum for both 3G as well as Broadband Wireless Access (BWA), for which the auction is yet to start.

"I hope there will a similar kind of competition in the BWA spectrum bidding," the minister said.
